What to Bring When Pheasant Hunting

Pheasant hunting can be one of the most enjoyable activities you will ever participate in, but bringing the right gear with you is essential. Without the proper equipment for yourself (and the dog), you can’t expect to hit anything, which can put a damper on the entire experience.

Of course, there are a few things that are absolutely required any time you go hunting. These of course include your hunting license, gun, and proper attire. Depending on the weather, you should wear extra layers and boots, and make sure you have a vest that can be easily spotted.

While the following items aren’t required, they are almost essential when it comes to having a decent hunting trip. Make sure you come with water, rain gear, a bird carrier, insect repellent, sunscreen, and extra shells. Of course, if you are traveling and staying overnight to hunt, you need all of your usual traveling gear.

For the dog it is a smart idea to have an electronic collar, water and food, and a health and rabies certificate from a veterinarian. In fact, that last one is required. Making sure the dog is comfortable throughout the hunt is important, especially since you will be relying on him or her to help you take home some pheasants.

No matter how much or little experience you have hunting pheasants, you can instantly make your next hunting trip better by bringing along these items. Of course, every person is different, and you may need a few things that we didn’t mention. But you can use this guide as a starting when planning your next trip. We can’t wait to see you on your next pheasant hunt!
